The Yellow Foot Prints

I humbly walked the yellow footprints
As I stepped down from the bus
As screams that broke the silence
Said there is no I, Just us

At ready was the attitude
That all recruits must face
The D.I.'s constant banter
To keep us in our place

To take a frightened boy
And strip him of all he knows
And build the minds of heroes gone
Inside, and from his head down to his toes

And when 12 weeks are almost gone
As The boy becomes a man
You stand a final inspection
As the E.G.A. is in your hand

Still today I will follow you
My brothers, In combat and in peace
Remember the yellow footprints
They are still there and never cease

A warriors heart is a heroes heart
for all the battles born
for what we did together
Gives me shelter from the storm
